A rare and historically significant original work by Carl Beam RCA — born Carl Edward Migwans in M'Chigeeng (West Bay), Manitoulin Island, of Ojibway heritage. Beam made Canadian art history as the first artist of Native ancestry to have his work purchased by the National Gallery of Canada as Contemporary Art, and a major retrospective of his work was organized by the National Gallery.

One of the most influential figures in the development of First Nations art in Canada, Beam's work — spanning drawing, watercolour, etching, non-silver photography, photo transfer, installation, and ceramics — has been exhibited across North America, Italy, Denmark, Germany, and China, and is held in major collections including the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Vancouver Art Gallery, and the Albright-Knox Gallery in Buffalo, NY. In 2000, he was inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts.

This piece is in exceptional archival condition — a true collector's work of enduring cultural and artistic significance.
