Downtown Trenton, New Jersey, ca. 1930s. Two young girls press together under a single umbrella on a blustery, nearly deserted State Street — their coats dark against the wet pavement, the umbrella tilting in the wind. A police officer stands watch in the background; an early automobile idles at the kerb. The city is quiet. The girls are not.
The Bettmann Archive caption says it simply: “Sharing with a friend is fun — but on a cold, blustery day, it becomes a blessed relief.” It is the kind of image that needs no further explanation.
This fine art print is part of “The Living Lens,” the Corbis/Bettmann limited edition series produced by master photographic printer Michel Karman of A&I/Ixibit, working directly from the original negatives and master prints held in the Bettmann Archive. Each print was made on the highest-quality photographic paper using advanced digital laser imaging, then personally signed and numbered by Karman.

International Shipping
