Two figures lean into each other in a moment of complete surrender — eyes closed, bodies entwined, surrounded by a swirling dreamscape of jewel-toned geometric forms. Giovanni Gerometta’s Préservons l’Amour (Preserve Love) is at once intimate and cosmic, the lovers at its centre held in a world that feels both fragile and luminous.
The work is a tour de force of the silkscreen medium. Executed in 45 hand-separated colour passes on handmade Papier Saint-Armand, the surface has a richness and depth that reproduction cannot fully capture — each layer of colour building on the last to create the velvety, almost tactile quality that defines Gerometta’s finest prints.
This is number 66 from a strictly limited edition of 150, published by Galerie d’Art Mont Sainte-Anne and printed by master printer Martin Lavoie in Québec. The certificate of authenticity, signed by both the artist and the printer, confirms that all screens were destroyed after printing.
