Blacks, yellows, reds, and blues locked in precise geometric tension — Tension en Hauteur (Tension Upward) is Wassily Kandinsky at the height of his Bauhaus period, where pure abstraction meets rigorous composition.
Kandinsky produced this work in 1924 while teaching at the Bauhaus in Weimar, Germany. During this pivotal period he moved toward greater geometric abstraction and carefully planned structure, drawing also on the constructivist ideas emerging in Russia through artists such as Vladimir Tatlin — the belief that art should directly reflect the modern industrial world.
