The Billy Boys by Jack Vettriano captures four men in suits and fedora hats striding across a sunlit beach. Dark tailoring contrasts with the warm golden sky and sand, while reflections on the wet shoreline give the scene a striking cinematic presence. Three men wear their jackets; the fourth carries his over his arm.
Inspired by a poster for Reservoir Dogs, the composition brings a sense of mystery and quiet menace to an otherwise tranquil coastal setting. It reflects the self-taught Scottish painter’s distinctive figurative style, with its film noir atmosphere and nostalgic character.
This large, unframed reproduction makes a dramatic focal point for a living room, office or study, with room to choose framing that complements its warm tones and strong dark silhouettes.
