Marlene Healey’s Straight Up moves. Great interlocking arcs sweep across the canvas in warm gold and burnt orange, their momentum cut through by sharp diagonal lines of red and teal. Embedded within the curves — almost hidden — are fragments of classical relief: acanthus scrollwork, fleur-de-lis, the kind of ornamental detail you’d find on a Baroque ceiling or a gilded frame. The collision of the gestural and the architectural is what makes this work so compelling.
The title feels apt. There is nothing tentative about this composition — it commits fully to its own energy, filling the picture plane with movement and weight.

How do I check the status of my order?
